Manayunk Engagement by Tina Jay Photography

This couple is just the cutest, and I am so very happy to be sharing this shoot, from the heart of Manayunk, as Delancey and Penn’s very first engagement feature.  I’m just in awe of how in love they are – this is one of those things where you can feel the emotion come through the pictures, and you can’t help but love them, too.  The bride is from the US and the groom hails from England, and they didn’t let anything get in the way of their love.  Their story is something right out of a movie, and it just warms my heart to hear them tell it.  The shots Tina captured are just perfection – sweet, casual, and full of love.  What more could you ask for?  {And how cute are those blue shoes?}

From Tina of Tina Jay Photography:

This couple is such a joy to be around, they’re SO in love, you can feel it:) I shot Jenna’s sister’s wedding a few years back, so I’m excited to celebrate with this family all over again. They just recently built a house in Manayunk, so we decided that would be the perfect location for their engagement session, documenting their love in their new hometown.  We wandered around Main Street in Manayunk, then headed over to Deke’s, their favorite BBQ spot in town.  They’re going to be married in April 2014, at the Cork Factory in Lancaster.

From Jenna, the Bride:

The summer after my freshman year at Penn State, my sister Sara and I went backpacking around Europe. Our first evening in Madrid, Sara struck up a conversation with three English guys staying in our Hostel… and that’s where it all began. We spent the next day wandering around Madrid with Dan, Dino and Andy, and that evening I wrote in my travel journal “I finally found a guy who becomes my best friend in 1 day, and he lives on the other side of the world…Maybe he’ll come visit me someday.”

A couple of weeks later we met up with Dan and his friends again in Amsterdam. We spent two days galavanting around the city, and saying goodbye to Dan (for the second time) was the absolute worst! There were lots more goodbyes (and hellos), as Dan and I spent the next 3 years writing countless emails, talking on the phone, and traveling back and forth from State College to Newcastle. It was all worth it, because in 2010 Dan moved to the U.S permanently. Now, 6 years after we first met, we’re comfortably settled in Philadelphia with jobs we love, a wonderfully crazy rescue dog (love you Rufus), and a wedding in the works!

From Dan, the groom:

It was the Summer of 2007, I was travelling across Europe with my friends Dino and Andy. It was evening time in the Los Amigos hostel in Madrid, so I was naturally enjoying a Starbucks cup (Venti) filled with store-brand Sangria, when suddenly, two girls swooped down upon the hostel and changed my life forever! Over the next two days I spent my time with Jenna, walking around the city, enjoying the sites, and getting to know my future fiance. We met up again at the end of my trip, and I knew I was doomed.

Over the next 3 years, I spent my time flying business class (standby!) across the Atlantic Ocean, and planning our future together. In 2010 I moved to the US, and since then we have never looked back. Now we have the very handsome Rufus in our lives, and own a house together… I think it’s time to get married!

I just can’t wait to see their 2014 wedding!
